OnGuard Online

I stumbled on this site created by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the OnGuard website “provides practical tips from the federal government and the technology industry to help you be on guard against Internet fraud, secure your computer, and protect your personal information.” No matter what I do to protect my computer, things manage to get through. The point is you can never learn too much about safety.

I found when I got there not only an attractively put together site, but it’s the three main sections from the homepage include “Topics”, “Games”, and “Videos”.

Visitors should start with the “Topics” area, which includes interactive features on proper computer
disposal, cross-border scams, email scams, and identity theft. Within this section (and all of the other sections), visitors will find a quick quiz that will allow them to learn about a number of topical issues. Moving on,
the “Games” area features hands-on activities that include “Invasion of the Wireless Hackers”, “Invest Quest”, and “Phishing Scams”.

Finally, users shouldn’t miss out on the “Tools” area. Here they can find helpful software and applications related to online security and also sign up to subscribe to receive cyber security tips.

Security is so so important in our cyber world. It is the guy that thinks, “It will never happen to me” that leaves himself vulnerable.

A Cat’s Prayer

Now I lay me down to sleep,
The king-size bed looks soft and deep…
I’ll move right into the center groove
So my humans can hardly move!
I’ve trapped their legs,
they’re tucked in tight
And here is where I pass the night
No one disturbs me or dares intrude
Till morning comes and “I want food!”
I sneak up slowly to begin
Then nibble on my human’s chin.
They wake up quickly,
I have sharp teeth –
And my claws I will unsheathe
For the morning’s here
and it’s time to play
I always seem to get my way.
So thank you Lord for giving me
These human beings that I see.

In my humble opinion AVG- Free is still the best security measure you can take. I got away from it and tried others that came recommended highly, but in the last 6 months I have had to wipe out the c-drive and start over 3 times. Not such a recommendation for the products I was using. In the years previous that I was using AVG, I never had to wipe out the hard drive until they had to be replaced because of wear.

Everyone has a book somewhere inside. Someone else wants to learn something that only you know. It is getting the book out of your head and into the hands of the people who want to know that make up the boom in this means of communication called the Internet.

Never before has the flow of communication been so International or so personal. But you know that or you wouldn’t be reading this newsletter right now.

If you didn’t have the dream of making a living from your business on the Internet you probably wouldn’t be advertising on this or other eZines.

Making a living on the Internet requires some very basic purposes

First is the desire to be your own boss
Second is good computer equipment
Third is a way to connect to the Internet
Then you need an idea. It doesn’t have to even be a brilliant idea, but a way to present what you know so that it will appeal to those that want to know what you already know and do well.

In this economy whether it is good in your world or bad in your world the basics never change. Yes I did say never. You must SELL something to SOMEONE if you are going to EARN anything.

The key question then becomes what can I sell? What should I sell? Whether you are selling yourself as a consultant, your own product or other people’s products alignment to your basic purposes and values is going to help determine the who, what, where, when and how. Ethics, immagination and creativity. That is what is going to get you where you want to go.

The Wednesday-night church service coincided with the last day of hunting season.

Our pastor asked who had bagged a deer.

No one raised a hand.

Puzzled, the pastor said, “I don’t get it. Last Sunday many of you said you were missing because of hunting season. I had the whole congregation pray for your deer.”

One hunter groaned, “Well, it worked. They’re all safe.”

Good Morning!
I Have Been Thinking

We are hearing a lot about government spending and protests. Matter of fact there is a new acronym – TEA- meaning Taxed Enough Already.

Budgeting is not a fun thing to do whether you are a single adult trying to go to school, a young family even with both adults working, A business cannot operate long without cash flow.

What are some of the basics of living or working within your income?

So many new people in business expect the big bonuses from the work they do and get very disappointed when they barely make ends meet. Just like government the answer is never borrowing. A rule I learned from my grandfather was, “never borrow to pay off bills.” Yet, isn’t that just what so many people do. They borrow from one to pay another then cry because there comes a time to pay the piper.

Live within your means, don’t spend money you don’t have and learn to identify what you need from what you want there is a difference.

A Great Singer

What kind of music do you sing?

Don’t you mean a cappella, singing without instrumental

“Nope. I mean aqua-pella, singing accompanied only by the water coming out of the shower-head.”

” Life is overflowing with the new. But it is necessary to empty out the old to make room for the new to enter.”

Tips and Techniques

Before complaining think about where your money has to be spent. Think about your budget and what work it is to keep it balanced, then think about how your government budgets. Do you set aside funds for certain expenditures? If you have a kid in college I am willing to bet your did. How many times have you lived beyond your means? You can tell that by how much your liabilities are as compared to your assets. Set a goal to get completely out of debt then work toward that end.

Happy Tax Day!!

Good Morning!
I Have Been Thinking

When you actually do a spending plan during the year, tax day doesn’t have to be a big headache. Now is the time to begin your plan for 2010.

It is important to keep track of everything especially your receipts. While I am not a CPA – and you definitely want to get advice from a good CPA for your business especially when it starts to make you some money. Paying taxes is not much fun, but paying your rightful share is a right and a priviledge.

Know what is allowable for deductions and plan your spending around them. Keeping track doesn’t even have to be difficult, it just has to be done.

Members of both the Internet Niche lab and Winassoc have access to the forms that I use. These forms have been developed over thirty years of being in business and have worked well for me.

I was talking on the phone with my son, who was stationed in Hawaii with the Air Force. He was explaining how the troops were learning to scuba-dive. They used the buddy system, he said, and occasionally dived into shark-infested waters.

Listening on the extension, my daughter asked, “What do you do when you see a shark?” Said my son,

“Swim faster than my buddy.”

Keep all of your receipts, then tape them to one sheet of paper on your stats sheet . It is far better than trying to keep things in a bank book. Nothing gets forgotten that way.

Do you put much store in astrology or numerology? I know a good many people that will not do anything until they consult their charts and daily astrology readings. Do you think that tea leaves and taro cards can really predict the future? I do know that a good many people honestly do believe in all of this stuff.

No one can predict the future, but you can predict and even direct outcomes. My favorite analogy is of course baking a cake. When you bake the ingredients all go in the formula in exact amounts and in exacting order. The oven temperature has to be exact and even the size of the pans must fit the quantity of batter.

You can predict the outcome as long as you follow an exacting order. You can plan future outcomes but only when each of the steps of the formula are done completely and honestly. There are recipes for success, but again the formulas have to be done completely and honestly then you can predict outcomes and your future.

When I was working as a clerk at a sporting-goods store,
a woman came up to my register with a package of white
athletic socks. “Will you open this up so I can see how
the socks feel?” she asked.

Reluctantly I tore open the package, and she scrutinized
the merchandise. She handed me the package, saying,

“I’ll take them.”

Relieved, I started to ring her up, until she interrupted

“Can I have another pack? This one’s been opened.”

Formulas will always follow the definition of truth. In order to put the recipe together you need the right ingredients which always include: who, what, where, when and how. They must have numbers attached to them and in many instances the numbers are dates. Want to know more? Join me on Monday night in the conference room.

Who Can You Trust

Good Morning!
I Have Been Thinking

Well it is back working again, my computer that is. I am getting to be old hat at this so the reinstall process is taking less time. The key of course is good backups. Done at the end of each day certainly is the optimum.

I hope that you had a great holiday or Spring break. It is during holiday times that it is even more important to keep track of your daily action plan getting the most important tasks completed daily. There are times when it is difficult, but never impossible to get done except when you are just plain too sick to work. That is when working with a team is so very important. When there are others in the group that can take over a task or two it can be most helpful. Have you ever thought of networking in this way. What questions should you be asking yourself?

1. Do I have a team that I can count on?
2. Is there just one member of the team that I can trust with confidential information?
3. Is there an upline in my organization that I can turn to?

If you don’t have answers to these questions or the answer is definitely no to each of them, then you are definitely going to be tied to your business.

“I won’t hold it against you if you
think this way. I promise I won’t.

“I mean the myth of working ON your
business, instead of IN it.

“It’s a load of BULL S**T” – Bryan Tracy

What does it mean to you to work IN your business as opposed to ON your business? Think about this very carefully. So many people that are new to working on the Internet really have bought into the idea that they can work in their business and even at that they don’t have to work but a few hours a week.

Yes, you can outsource a good lot of your business, you can if you have more money than time. You can even outsource your business and eventually build it up to a six figure income, but I guarantee you, you will pay more than 75% of that six figures in your “cost of doing business”

You can work in your business. Yes, you will have to learn a good many things. Yes, you will have to wear many hats, but when you do outsource you will know what you are doing. No one can pull the wool over your eyes when you know how to do what your business is doing. YOU should be the best employee your company has. If no one else is there, you should be able to depend on you.

My five-year-old nephew wanted to caddy for my brother’s

told him. “How much is six plus nine plus eight?”

“Five,” answered the nephew.

“Okay,” my brother said, “let’s go.”

Tips and Techniques

Here is an eye opener for you to do.

Think about the tasks you might hire out in your home business on the Internet…

* copywriting
* web design
* product creation
* graphics
* programming
* customer support
* technical support
* copy editing
* affiliate management
* joint venture negotiation
* link building
* social networking/marketing
* content creation
* blogging

… and probably more.

Let’s assume you pay each one of these outsources
a very nominal salary of $150 per month. That’s
really, really cheap, by the way! Add in your basics cost like URL, hosting, telephone, and any other fees you pay and see what your cost to do business would be.

Now figure that you are doing all of these things how much could you be earning?
