Why Networking?

Good Morning!

I Have Been Thinking

Why Networking? More importantly, why Network marketing? There are only two important reasons to honestly and earnestly examine the possibilities
1. It is affordable. It does take money to make money, but it takes very little for the possible return on investment. You will earn as much as you think you deserve to earn. If you think you are not worth much, then networking is not for you.
2. You can touch people’s lives by reaching out and helping each one of them to succeed.
There are no other reasons; they all boil down to these two.

Rules to (Not) Give to Your Boss!

1. Never give me work in the morning. Always wait
until 4:00 and then bring it to me. The challenge of a
deadline is refreshing.

2. If it’s really a rush job, run in and interrupt me every
10 minutes to inquire how it’s going. That helps. Even
better, hover behind me, and advise me at every
keystroke.

3. Always leave without telling anyone where you’re
going. It gives me a chance to be creative when
someone asks where you are.

4. If my arms are full of papers, boxes, books, or
supplies, don’t open the door for me. I need to learn
how to function as a paraplegic and opening doors
with no arms is good training in case I should ever be
injured and lose all use of my limbs.

5. If you give me more than one job to do, don’t tell
me which is priority. I’m practicing to be a psychic.

6. Do your best to keep me late. I adore this office and
really have nowhere to go or anything to do. I have
no life beyond work.

7. If a job I do pleases you, keep it a secret. If that
gets out, it could mean a promotion.

8. If you don’t like my work, tell everyone. I like my
name to be popular in conversations. I was born to
be whipped.

9. If you have special instructions for a job, don’t write
them down. In fact, save them until the job is almost
done. No use confusing me with useful information.

10. Never introduce the people you’re with to me. I
have no right to know anything. In the corporate
food chain, I am plankton. When you refer to them
later, my shrewd deductions will identify them.

11. Be nice to me only when the job I’m doing for you
could really change your life and send you straight to
the unemployment line.

12. Tell me all your little problems. No one else has
any and it’s nice to know someone is less fortunate.
I especially like the story about having to pay so
many taxes on the bonus check you received for
being such a good manager.

13. Wait until my yearly review and THEN tell me
what my goals SHOULD have been. Give me a
mediocre performance rating with a cost of living
increase. I’m not here for the money anyway.

Tips and Techniques

Did you know that it’s easier to motivate a group than a single individual? That is why it is so important to hone in your speaking skills. Whether you present Networking and Network marketing to small groups in someone’s home, to large groups in a hotel setting or to groups in a conference setting on the Internet, you will find it so much easier and so much more rewarding to get the electricity happening.

The Line Up

Good Morning!

I Have Been Thinking

Introducing Joseph Mercado! The Internet Income Lab proudly presents a new mentor on the faculty. Joseph is our “Motivational Marketing” coach. I was quite excited to be interviewed by him on Sunday. Probably you are thinking right now, what is motivational marketing? I know I was. It is unusual for the motivator to be motivated, but that is exactly what happened.
Who or what motivates you to keep on keeping on?
Where do you go for answers to your questions or just someone to talk it out with? There are always answers to your questions readily available in the lab. The line up of mentors are people that teach from experience and not from theory.
Lou Roggio – headmaster is the owner of the lab. His experience is in scripts and hardware. A few minutes with him and he can have you up and running on both feet.
Claire Poulton – our CSS master. Claire teaches HTML from the ground up.
Tim Brownlaw – PHP, Tim hales from down under. His with and humor help to make this dry technical subject fun and easy to learn.
Thom Meyer – Word Press Thom is author of WP Revealed. He does answer all questions posed so no two conferences are the same.
Steve Watson with the Niche Academy – Steve will take you through the process of idea to marketing you own Internet info product. While many tell you it is the way to riches on the web, Steve shows you step by step how to do it.
Then there is me. I facilitate two conferences in the lab. Monday night at 8 Eastern: Using a WYSIWYG to build your site. How to: Get on line quickly and easily. Thursday at 10 am – How To Achieve Your Goals built upon my 15 years as a project manager. This is no rah-rah conference but the nuts and bolts of getting things done.
You are welcome to come along – the best part, it is all free at least for now.

Bull’s-Eye

One of the best marksmen in the FBI was passing through a small town. Everywhere he saw evidences of the most amazing shooting. On trees, on walls, and on fences there were numerous bull’s-eyes with the bullet hole in dead center.
The FBI man asked one of the townsmen if he could meet the person responsible for this wonderful marksmanship.

The man turned out to be the village idiot. “This is the best marksmanship I have ever seen,” said the FBI man. “How in the world do you do it?”

“Nothing to it,” said the idiot. “I shoot first and draw the circles afterward.”

I want you to read today’s quote. Then read it again. Believe it or not, but the foundation of building a strong, viable networking organization is hidden in plain sight in this quote. If you don’t believe that your product, your service is right for you and your friends, then you will never be able to sell it!
Some people who are the “sales type” might get away with it for a little while until they start getting complaints, then they fall apart. It is then easy to blame the company or blame the product. The truth of the matter is it is easier to put the blame outside them. The truth is the “hype.” The truth is “your can fool some of the people some of the time. But, you cannot fool all of the people all of the time.”
If you know in your head, you heart, your mind and your gut that what you are doing will make a difference in the lives of those you touch then go for it with your whole being.

Good Morning!

I Have Been Thinking

It’s the little things that count. It honestly is the little things like a great big smile. It’s the little things like saying, “how can I help you?” and meaning it.
What do you appreciate most about your business and it’s structure? Take a good look at it and I am sure you will come to the same conclusions.
In any marketing structure where networking is at it’s core, it is the little things you do that will build an organization and more important will keep that organization active and healthy.
What is a network?
I like to use the example of a spider web to explain a network. Each little thread of the web by itself is extremely fragile, but woven together and especially in the shape and form that it is, it is probably one of the strongest structures there is. Each thread of the web is connected through nodes that are as important to the next as they are to those in the center as they are to those at the very end. Both the center and the end of the threads help keep the structure from falling in on itself.
The spider’s web has a specific purpose and function. You connections or those that make up your web also have a purpose.
Do you say or even imply, “come work for me and make me rich?” Even if you don’t, that is what many people hear when you explain the rewards of a Networking Marketing Company. It is far more important to say or imply, “come work with me and together we will make you rich.” Then work to do it.
Do you say or even imply, “you don’t have to do anything, the company does it all for you.” Do you believe that yourself? If the company did it all for you, what would they need you for? Yes, they might establish all of the support systems. Yes, they might set up all the follow up systems and back office tools you need to operate your business but it is up to you to move product from the company to those you sponsor into your industry.
Networking is work and it is in that work that the structure is fortified and made strong.

Tips and Techniques

How do you network with people you meet every day? Do you just walk past people and barely nod or do you just walk on past then as if you didn’t even notice he was there?
Do you wear a name tag? Do you want to folks to know who you are and what you do? Do you invite conversation? It really is OK to talk to strangers at the grocery store! It really is OK to start up a conversation with another mother in the park when you take your children to play.

What about on the Internet, do you make it easy for people to contact you? Do you give them contact information so they can reach you to ask questions about your product or service? I don’t understand people who hide behind their website. They spend a whole lot of money making a site and making it look good and then don’t want anyone interacting with them.

The Lesson Is

Good Morning!
I Have Been Thinking

I read something the other day that I want you to know, but I want to get it right so I am just going to quote this section. This is from the book The Wave Three Way to Build Your Business by Richard Poe. “The proverbial rainy day hit about a year later. At Christmastime in 1994, one of her fellow distributors called Venus in a panic.
“Have you heard the news?” she said, “Our company has gone bankrupt. None of our checks will be coming through. It’s all over.”
It happens in network marketing companies. It happens in small business. It happens in big business. Companies come and go. It was very upsetting to me the first time it happened back in 1975. It was very upsetting to me when I saw so many of my friends loose their business when Excel closed it’s doors. It was heartbreaking when Leaving Prints closed its doors this last year, but it does happen.
Remember the saying, “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.” But more important and the point Richard is making in this section of the book is “I was shocked to find that so many people didn’t have any savings. They lived from check to check, even people who’d been getting very big checks. They’d spent every cent and hadn’t put anything away.”
Take heed in these words. Build several income streams. With Internet Marketing and your own web site, this is not only possible but easier to do that it ever was. Save! save at least 10% of everything you earn.
Learning good habits with money is probably one of the most difficult and yet most important skills anyone can learn. Sudden riches can be very exciting and at the same time very confusing to a good many people. There are a couple of hidden rules people tend to follow do you know what they are? Do you know how to guide your network in a positive way to pay off their debts? Do you know how to work with a business partner in such a way that he will know how to manage profits to ensure future success? Do you know how to encourage people to save – just in case?
Good financial management is as important as knowing how to make money in the first place.

Lists are a very important part asset in networking. Whatever the list you are working on is for: Is it a to-do list for a party? Are you making a to-do list for a business activity? Are you writing a list of names of people who might be able to help you with a project?
Let me tell you a few things about lists.
• Pay attention to details
• Don’t leave anyone or anything out
• Don’t assume they won’t be interested or won’t help
Most of us learn this lesson the hard way.

Good Morning!

I Have Been Thinking

We have been discussing networking over this month. It is a very broad subject. How do I know that? Isn’t it just one person talking to another person? Well, yes it is but… None of us are very good about tooting our own horn. If you are, and when you do by most you are considered a braggart or boaster
It’s not enough to know that you’re good. You need to know why you’re good. And when you ask your customers what they like most about your products or services, you know. Then you can work to get even better at the things they liked so much. then you’ve got stories to tell.
It is so true that stories sell. It is the stories that hit home, they hit the hot buttons. You could have the best product or service on the planet, and you may have helped hundreds or even thousands of people to (insert what you are good at) but if you don’t get quotes from them, if you don’t use the spontaneous testimonials then other people will not know how good you are.
Networking also means telling those who you learn from, those that have helped you to get ahead just how much you appreciate what they have done. Do it without being asked just because you own them a very big thank you.

In The News

Brookpark Ohio: Burglars broke in to an unoccupied house that was being renovated for sale recently. Among the items they stole were Roofing shingles, A lawn Mower, weed whackers and lumber.

They broke into a storage area under the deck and also a shed in the back. Before leaving though they mowed the lawn of the residence.

Neighbors report seeing strange men walking around the home, but never calling the police because they figured they were hired to do the lawn.

The owners are quoted as saying they will leave a pressure washer and painting equipment for the thieves next week as they did a better job than the lawn care company they had hired, and cheaper also.

Tips and Techniques

When you are willing to get out and talk to people your network can help you to achieve anything you want to do, learn, be. Talk to a friend about the movie or the game you saw last weekend and you can probably talk for hours.
Ask a friend if he knows who is hiring and you can probably gather 10 – 15 referrals in just a few minutes.
Networking is probably one of the easiest most natural things in the world. Take a look at your network of friends, family and acquaintances. How many people do you know by first name? If you want to know about ___ who do you ask? If you want to know who did ___ who do you ask? If you want to know what is the best product that will do ____, who do you ask? Did you know some of the best positions are obtained by one friend asking another friend for a recommendation? That’s networking!

1st Quarter 2007

Good Morning!
I Have Been Thinking

I can’t believe how quickly this first quarter of 2007 has vanished. There are just a few days left in March, but ahh Spring and I am so looking forward to Spring.
Now, in these last 10 days of March is the time to re-evaluate your annual plan, your marketing strategies and of course your daily to-do lists.
Ask yourself:
1. Is my master list growing as it should be?
2. Is my key contact list active?
3. Have I put at least 5 new promo actions in place?
4. Are my affiliate programs producing?
5. Have I improved with my self-talk?
6. Am I getting well over 60% of my daily action plans completed?
7. Is my income where it should be?
8. Am I keeping my expenses under control?
9. Did I save at least 10% of my total income?
If you are honest with yourself in answering these questions you will know in which direction to go.
If you don’t know or things just are not progressing as you want, then you should take avail yourself of the mentoring advantage. It’s Tuesday morning! At 9 AM Eastern in the Internet Income Lab we have our class with Steve Watson and his Niche Academy Course. This course covers 52 weeks of intensive how to: How to create your own info product, how to find and build your own niche.
I have been successful in building my own corner of the web, creating my own little niche, but let me tell you I am learning so much more from Steve and the other mentors in the lab (www.internetincomelab.com)
Working from home is great. Having my time to my self is wonderful. But! People do need other people. Being able to connect with others, learning what other online business people are doing, sharing ideas, working separately yet together. Isn’t that what networking is all about?
Check out the schedule, look for the classes and conferences that interest you then come on in you are quite welcome.

Everyone in network marketing knows just how it feels to be laughed at. Sometimes I think about how Noah felt. No one on the planet knew rain. They had no idea, not even Noah. All he really knew was that he was being told to do something unheard of.
You are working every day to build your business. You make those prospecting calls despite friends and family laughing at you and telling you it will never work. I am here to remind you, the rain did come. Can you just imagine how Noah felt when the rains did come and he could not pull his friends onboard to safety?
Believe in yourself. Believe in your company. Believe in your compensation plan. If you work Network Marketing works. I have one more question to leave you with today. If you were the owner of a Fortune 500 Company would you hire you as the company’s chief executive officer? If the answer is no, then you have some work to do, haven’t you?

Networking and talking to people is my favorite thing to do. When it becomes your favorite – like ice cream and cake then networking will become a very fun activity.
What groups or organizations to you belong to? How about things like bowling, a swimming club, a ladies group, a service organization like the Lion’s club? For every interest there is a ready made activity to join.
Try it, you just might find that it is easier to talk to people in a social atmosphere. Networking is a people business always has been always will be.
